Follow Highway 105 south out of Atkins for approximately 10 miles, the road turns
to gravel about a half mile before you have to leave it to get to the cemetery. Along the
south side of the gravel road you can see a cutoff that is blocked by a dirt berm. Walk down
the cutoff till it starts to curve to the east. Walk through the woods back up hill to find
the cemetery along the ridge line. The location is about 35º09' N by 93º02' W. This cemetery
has been long abandoned and is overgrown. When I went there I only photographed the ones that
were related to me, there are several graves there that I did not photograph but will the next
time I go to Pope County. The black dot south of Highway 105 represents the approximate
location of the cemetery. To find this cemetery on your own it might be best to get a 1:24000
topographical map for the Holla Bend Quadrangle and use it to follow the land contours to find
the cemetery.
