Follow Highway 247 south out of Pottsville for approximately 2 miles, the road
turns due west, go for about 2 more miles till you see a commemorative plaque on the left
side, that is for Mt. Zion Cemetery. It is at the end of the road going due south off Highway
247. The location is about 35º13' N by 93º05' W. When I went there I only photographed
the ones that were related to me, there are several graves there that I did not photograph but
will the next time I go to Pope County. The black dot south of New Hope Road/Highway 247
represents the approximate location of the cemetery. The cemetery was in good repair when I
first visited it about 10 years ago but was overgrown and neglected last year when I was
there.
